DMSO Is Currently Making a Comeback
Dimethyl sulfoxide or DMSO is currently experiencing a comeback, and rightly so. For many years, only naturopaths and alternative medicine practitioners used this potent therapeutic agent. DMSO is now better known as a freely available, effective and extremely well-tolerated preparation.
DMSO is suitable for the treatment of traumatic or acute inflammatory diseases. Its anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects are well known. DMSO also promotes the reduction of swelling and bruising and supports the body in wound healing. It is now administered much more frequently for blunt sports injuries, rheumatic or degenerative joint diseases, neuralgia or shoulder-arm syndrome.
DMSO can do much more
On the one hand, accident and sports medicine, veterinary medicine and cosmetic surgeons are now using DMSO more frequently. On the other hand, DMSO is also used by people who are looking for alternative treatments for chronic illnesses. DMSO is therefore a therapeutic component that gives such patients more autonomy and medical independence. It can replace some standard medications with many side effects. However, many people do not currently know how to use DMSO safely and what areas of application it has.
DMSO - a solvent with special properties
DMSO is used in many medical contexts. For example, it is used to generate chemical reactions. Laboratory samples can be processed analytically with it, for example in nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. DMSO is also activated with special agents in the "Swern oxidation" process and used as a mild oxidizing agent. DMSO is generally popular in such manifestations. It is used as a liquid component in various solutions in research and industrial contexts.
The second, not yet so well-known use is in the treatment of various ailments that can affect humans and animals. DMSO was first used in such contexts in the early 1960s in experiments on transplant tissue. The therapeutic use of DMSO is now attributed to MD Edward E. Rosenbaum. Anyone can read in relevant online articles that the medical history of DMSO has varied depending on the prevailing medical paradigm.
DMSO mutated from the alleged "miracle cure" that some pharmaceutical giants wanted to establish on the European market through corresponding approval applications, to an almost secret drug that was only known to holistically thinking therapists. Hardly any other liquid therapeutic agent went from being an object of desire, described in several thousand scientific articles, to a medical "no go". In South America, the medical use of DMSO has long been officially recognized.
The lack of German-language literature
The number of publications on the therapeutic benefits of DMSO is now almost unmanageable. Hardly any other alternative drug has been researched so extensively. Although this is the case, and although there is no lack of scientific studies in terms of number and quality, there is still no German-language manual available in Germany. As a result, many users - and not even therapists who want to use DMSO for the first time - are not familiar with the most important therapeutic fields of application.
The handouts and recipes available so far are sparse. They are also guarded by alternative users as if their use were secret knowledge. The resulting uncertainty in dealing with DMSO does not correspond to what users want. Anyone interested should be able to find out comprehensive information in their own language about the therapeutic versatility of this preparation.
