A DHEA-S test is a targeted laboratory investigation, not a general youth test. It becomes useful through the question it should answer. An isolated number from an online panel explains neither the cause of tiredness nor a need for hormone preparations.
What is measured?
DHEA-S is a sulfated form of DHEA, produced mainly in the adrenal glands. It occurs in men and women. The test can help with particular questions about adrenal function or increased androgen production; interpretation depends on age, sex and other findings, among other factors. [1]
