What exactly is DMSO?

DMSO, what is it? It has been known for 150 years. It has achieved great success in the treatment of various diseases. It was officially approved for a short time, only to be withdrawn because of its success. And now it is enjoying a renaissance!

That's right, it's DMSO. Dimethyl sulfoxide has long been valued by the industry as a solvent. Due to its amazing effect on humans and animals, it was approved for medical purposes thirty-five years ago and used successfully. But shhh! The pharmaceutical lobby still has a say in this.

What makes DMSO so interesting?
DMSO is not a medicinal product in the traditional sense. But it can give the body a powerful boost in its ability to regenerate. Why? The secret lies in its bipolarity. DMSO is able to bind to fat and water molecules. This unique property is of enormous value not only to industry. Since our bodies also consist of a lot of fat and water, DMSO is an excellent carrier substance. It carries all the substances dissolved in it directly into the cell - to the place where the action takes place.

Many existing forms of therapy are limited in their effectiveness. They usually only combat the symptoms because the cause cannot be reached directly. Too many natural barriers made of water, fat and carbohydrates prevent the medicine from working exactly where it is needed. The result is dosages that are far too high, which are unnecessary and only place unnecessary strain on the body. If there is a large wall between the source of a fire and the fire brigade, it is ultimately no use using more water. In this metaphor, DMSO drills a hole through the wall. It creates a connection and opens a path.

Fewer side effects
DMSO is particularly useful where high doses of medication are required. Because it increases the effect many times over, better results can be achieved with much lower doses. The burden on the metabolism and thus the side effects are correspondingly low.

Every drug has a so-called Cushing threshold. If this is exceeded during long-term use, serious side effects result.
A good example of the worthwhile use of DMSO is cortisone therapy. It is able to increase the effect of cortisone up to 1000 times! The combination would therefore mean a completely new quality of life for those affected.

The author of the book, Dr. Harmut Fischer, wanted to know more. The scientist discovered that DMSO has many other properties that can have a positive effect on the body. His conclusion is that DMSO can also repair serious tissue damage because it immensely accelerates the cells' ability to regenerate. This effect also has a preventative effect.

Despite all its positive properties, DMSO remains a very reactive substance that cannot distinguish between the desired substance and contamination. DMSO must therefore always be handled carefully and with great emphasis on cleanliness.

Other interesting facts
DMSO was first discovered in 1866. However, it took until the early 1960s for it to be used in humans for the first time. In 1965, the FDA issued an immediate sales ban, which was lifted in Switzerland in 1973 and in Germany in 1978. At the same time, it was approved for human medicine.

In general, DMSO is seven times safer than aspirin. No side effects are known. One unpleasant side effect, however, is the strong odor that occurs during oral DMSO applications. While your own nose is spared from this, you can delight those around you with a mixture of garlic and oysters. But this odor also disappears after three days.

DMSO is virtually resistant to bacterial and viral contamination, as both pathogens are too large to be carried along unintentionally. In general, only those substances are transported that are able to penetrate the uppermost layers of the skin.

Science is showing great interest in the substance. There are over 50,000 articles worldwide about the properties and medical effectiveness of DMSO. However, the big breakthrough has not yet been achieved. No wonder. The pharmaceutical industry cannot patent DMSO as an active ingredient. Therefore, from their point of view, it is not interesting and even represents a competing product in financial terms.
